Ecommerce Web Design Perth: Ecommerce Website Design Perth Shoppers Actually Buy From

Ecommerce web design is the design and build of an online store: the platform underneath it, the product and category pages that help a shopper choose, the checkout that takes the payment, and the tracking that shows which of it worked. Perth Digital Edge builds stores on WooCommerce and Shopify from around $4,000, with custom designed WordPress builds with WooCommerce from $6,995, custom Shopify builds scoped per project, 60 days of free support once the store is live and maintenance from $495 a month. Which platform, which categories, how many checkout fields: each decision is made from what Google’s data shows about your shoppers, because we use data, we do not guess.

Choosing the platform: WooCommerce or Shopify

The first ecommerce decision is the one many agencies make for you, quietly, based on what they prefer to build. We put it on the table.

WooCommerce is open source and runs inside WordPress. You own the store, its code and its data, hosting is yours to choose, there is no platform subscription, and almost anything can be built or connected: wholesale pricing, quote requests, subscriptions, custom product configurators, direct links to your accounting or inventory systems. The trade is responsibility. Updates, security and hosting are your job or your agency’s, which is why our maintenance plans exist. Our WooCommerce web design page covers that platform in depth.

Shopify is a hosted platform. Shopify runs the servers, the security and the checkout, and you pay a monthly fee for the privilege. It is the faster route to a straightforward store and the lighter one for a small team to run. The trade is control: the fee structure, checkout customisation and data access are set by Shopify, and the design lives inside its theme system. Searches for “Shopify developer Perth” are small, at about 150 a month.

How we decide with you: catalogue size and complexity, whether products need to sit next to serious content, the systems the store must talk to, how much your team wants to manage, and the running cost over three years, not the build cost alone. Both platforms can rank, convert and load fast. The wrong choice is the one that forces the business to work around its store.

What makes an online store convert

A store’s job is to make choosing easy and paying easier, and most of that is decided before a shopper reaches the cart.

Product pages need the photograph a shopper would take in a store, the price with GST, the shipping cost or estimate before checkout, stock status, sizing or specification detail, and reviews. Category pages need to work as landing pages with real copy and useful filters, because that is where search traffic lands. Site search has to return the product a customer typed, including misspellings. And every one of those pages has to load fast on a phone, which is where Google’s Core Web Vitals thresholds of 2.5 seconds, 200 milliseconds and 0.1 become a design constraint rather than a developer’s afterthought.

The checkout is where stores leak. Guest checkout, an address lookup, express wallets, a buy now pay later option where it suits the basket size, shipping choices shown early and a total that does not change at the last step: each removes a reason to abandon. Trust does the rest, in the form of a visible returns policy, a phone number, an ABN and a physical address.

What the Perth search data says

Ahrefs (Australia, September 2026) puts “ecommerce web design Perth” at about 600 searches a month with a local map pack and a People Also Ask box, and “ecommerce website design Perth” at about 400, which now shows an AI overview. Nationally, “ecommerce web design” reaches around 1,100 searches a month, with an AI overview, a map pack and video results all competing for the click. “Shopify developer Perth” draws about 150 searches a month.

Clicks on the two Perth terms cost advertisers about US$4.50 each. The more revealing figure is “ecommerce SEO Perth”, also about 600 searches a month at around US$7 a click: as many Perth store owners are looking for someone to grow a store as to build one, and they pay more for that click. A store built without its future marketing in mind, missing product schema, clean category URLs and tracking, costs more to fix later than to build correctly.

Google’s data in an ecommerce build

01

Search Console API

Where a store already exists, the Search Console API lists every query its product and category pages appear for, so the new structure keeps what earns impressions and redirects the rest. Speed is measured, not assumed.

02

Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics 4 records the whole shopping funnel as events: a product viewed, an item added to the cart, a checkout begun, a purchase completed. Set up correctly, those events show where shoppers leave, on which device and from which channel, and that shapes a new store as much as any brief.

03

Keyword Planner via the Google Ads API

Keyword Planner volumes, pulled through the Google Ads API, show the product categories buyers in Perth and across Australia actually search for, which settles the category tree.

04

Natural Language API

The Natural Language API reads the product and category copy the way Google does, so a page about linen bedding in Perth is understood as exactly that. And product structured data feeds Google Merchant Center, where free product listings and Shopping ads begin.

05

PageSpeed Insights and Chrome UX Report

The PageSpeed Insights API tests the product, category, cart and checkout templates during the build, and once live the Chrome UX Report field data shows how real shoppers on real phones experienced them.

Results from stores and conversion focused sites

Sell My Car Pro is our clearest conversion example even though this Perth car buying service sells a service rather than stock. Website, SEO, branding and logo were built together with the online valuation tool as the key event. Completions of that tool climbed 285 percent, new users climbed 320 percent and 168 keywords were on page one within 90 days, and the client says results started before any money went into ads. A store’s purchase event is measured exactly the same way.

Wholistically Healthy, which delivers health meals across Perth from its online store, saw organic traffic rise 118 percent and conversions rise 51 percent through SEO, web design, content and link building, and describes the working relationship in the first review below.

4Healthcare, a Perth healthcare business, was redeveloped onto an ecommerce platform. The client reports rankings moving from low to high and sales and return on investment rising.

Ben did an awesome job with Sell My Car Pro. He took care of everything from the website development and SEO through to the graphic design, branding and logo. He was easy to work with, kept things simple, and we started getting results before we had even spent anything on ads. Really happy with how it all turned out and would definitely recommend him.

Ecommerce web design pricing in Perth

Store pricing turns on the platform, the number of products and variations, the payment and shipping rules, the integrations and how much of the design is custom. We publish the starting points below and fix the figure in writing once we have run a free audit on your existing store or site and its Google data.

Option What it suits Investment

Frequently asked questions

Our stores on WooCommerce or Shopify start from around $4,000 and a custom designed WordPress build with WooCommerce from $6,995, each quoted as a fixed figure, while a custom Shopify build is scoped per project. Ongoing costs are the platform subscription or hosting, payment processing fees, and maintenance from $495 a month if you want us to look after a WooCommerce store.

Shopify if you want the least to manage and a standard store is enough. WooCommerce if you need ownership, flexibility, content alongside products or connections to other systems. We recommend one in writing after the free audit, and we build both.

It depends on the catalogue, the integrations and how quickly product data, images and approvals arrive from your side. The timeline goes in the scope, and product data is almost always the item that decides it.

Yes. Products, customers and order history are migrated, every old URL is redirected, Search Console and GA4 are carried across, and the switch happens at a quiet trading time.

Yes. Card payments, PayPal, express wallets and buy now pay later options as you choose, GST inclusive pricing with correct invoices, and shipping zones and rates that match how you actually dispatch. Everything is tested with real orders before launch.

Yes. Product schema, clean category URLs, Merchant Center and GA4 tracking are built into the store, so an ecommerce SEO campaign or Google Ads Shopping campaigns can start on day one with data already flowing.

Nobody can promise that, and we do not. We build product and category pages with plain descriptions, structured data and consistent business details, which is what AI generated answers cite, and if you run a campaign with us, Ahrefs tracks your AI citations next to rankings and we go through them together in a meeting, never a report. Our AI search optimisation page explains more.
