WordPress Web Design Perth: Custom WordPress Sites You Own and Can Edit
WordPress web design is the design and development of a business website on WordPress, the open source content management system, so that the owner can change text, images, prices and pages without calling a developer, and so that nothing about the site is tied to one agency. Perth Digital Edge builds custom designed WordPress sites from $6,995, with maintenance plans from $495 a month and a 60 day free support period after every launch. Hosting and maintenance are priced monthly, you hold the admin login and the code, and every choice about page structure, template weight and copy is tested against what Google actually measures, because we use data, we do not guess.

Why WordPress, and when it is the wrong choice
WordPress suits many Perth businesses for three reasons. It is portable: any competent WordPress developer Perth wide can take over a site we built, which keeps us honest. It is editable: staff can publish a new service page or update a price on a Tuesday afternoon. And it is extensible: bookings, quoting calculators, member areas, CRM connections and WooCommerce stores all live inside one system rather than five.
It is not always the answer, and we say so. A single campaign landing page does not need a content management system. A business that wants a hosted store with the least possible maintenance may be better served by Shopify, which we also build. And a WordPress site assembled from a heavy theme and thirty plugins is worse than a plain static site, because each plugin is a future update, conflict and slowdown. The value of WordPress comes from how it is built.
What custom WordPress design means here
Custom means the theme is written for your business rather than bought and bent into shape. The templates contain what your pages need and nothing else, so the browser is not downloading sliders, icon libraries and animation scripts that no page uses. Design happens in the block editor, so what you edit is what the visitor sees, and layouts stay locked to your brand instead of drifting whenever someone adds a page.
Plugins are kept to a short, maintained list: forms, SEO, caching, security and whatever the business genuinely needs. Each one is chosen for its update history as much as its features. Custom fields hold structured content, such as service areas, team members or products, so the information is consistent wherever it appears and can be marked up with schema for Google.
Ownership is written into the scope: the domain stays in your name, the hosting account is yours or ours as you prefer, and at handover you receive the admin credentials and documentation.
What Perth searchers want from a WordPress designer
Ahrefs (Australia, September 2026) records about 1,000 searches a month for “WordPress web design Perth”, with a local map pack and a People Also Ask box on the results. “WordPress developer Perth” draws around 250 searches a month and now shows an AI overview and a discussion thread as well as the map pack, which tells you people are asking how to choose one, not only who is nearby. “WordPress website design Perth” and “WordPress development Perth” sit at about 200 and 150 searches a month, with “WordPress designer Perth” at roughly 150. Nationally, “WordPress web design” reaches about 1,400 searches a month, with image and video results on the page.
The click costs are telling. Advertisers pay about US$6 a click for “WordPress web design Perth” and about US$5 for “WordPress website design Perth”, but around US$20 a click for “WordPress development Perth”. Development searches usually seem to come from businesses with a broken integration or a site that fell over after an update, and agencies pay a premium to reach them. It is the best argument we know for building a site that never needs rescuing.
Google’s data, applied to a WordPress build
WordPress performance is decided by the theme and the plugins, and both are ours to control.
Search Console API
Before the design phase, we pull your existing site’s search data through the Search Console API, every query and every page, so a WordPress rebuild keeps the URLs that already earn impressions and redirects the rest deliberately.
Google Analytics 4
Google Analytics 4 shows which pages turned visitors into enquiries, so nothing that works is designed away.
Keyword Planner via the Google Ads API
Keyword Planner volumes, drawn through the Google Ads API, set the list of service pages the site needs, and the Natural Language API checks each page’s copy so Google extracts the service and the place you meant.
PageSpeed Insights and Chrome UX Report
We test every template through the PageSpeed Insights API during development, then watch the Chrome UX Report field data after launch, which records how real visitors on real phones experienced the site. Google’s published thresholds are our pass marks: main content visible within 2.5 seconds, response to a tap within 200 milliseconds, layout shift under 0.1. A custom theme with a disciplined plugin list gets there. A bloated one rarely does, however much caching is layered on top.
What our WordPress web design service covers
Discovery and site architecture
We map your services, locations and audiences to a sitemap built from Google’s search volumes, and write a scope that fixes the price before design begins. If two audiences need separate treatment, as Inception Video’s did, the structure separates them from the start.
Custom theme design and development
Wireframes, then designs for phone and desktop, then a theme coded for those designs in the block editor, without heavy drag and drop page builders. Fonts, images and scripts are loaded only where they are needed.
Content migration and redirects
Moving from Wix, Squarespace, an older WordPress theme or a static site, we bring pages, posts and media across, rewrite where the copy needs it, and map every old URL to its new home so rankings carry over.
WooCommerce and integrations
When the business sells online or runs on other systems, we add WooCommerce, booking tools, CRM connections or payment gateways as part of the same build and test each one before launch. Our WooCommerce web design page covers stores in depth.
Performance, security and hosting
Caching, image compression, database housekeeping, login hardening and a firewall are configured at build. Sites can sit on our own Perth hosting from $17.90 a month, with a maintenance plan from $495 a month covering updates, security monitoring and fixes.
Training and documentation
Before launch we sit with you, in Wanneroo or on a call, and go through adding pages, editing blocks, changing images and reading your Search Console and Analytics reports. You leave able to run the site, and we stay available when you would rather not.
Results from WordPress and rebuild projects
Inception Video, a Perth video production company serving two very different markets, moved from Wix to WordPress with a new design built for visual appeal and SEO. The structure speaks to each audience separately, and the owner was trained to keep developing the site, as the review below describes.
Perth Tax Pro, an accounting firm in Perth, launched with five separate service pages, one for each line of work and each tuned to its own search cluster. SEO, content and link building then built on that base.
Energetics Institute, a counselling and psychotherapy practice in Perth, asked us in 2018 for a rebuild of a site running to more than 100 pages, made SEO friendly in the process. It barely ranked then. Five years later the practice describes holding positions one to three for many of its terms.
Castle Security, which installs security systems across Perth, paired a site rebuild with SEO, content and link building: traffic up 364 percent, key events up 185 percent, 109 keywords on page one.
WordPress web design pricing in Perth
A WordPress quote should be a fixed figure against a written scope, not an hourly estimate that grows. Ours starts with a free audit of your current site and its Google data, so the recommendation is based on what your visitors and rankings actually need.
The gap between the two WordPress tiers is design and scale: whether the theme is designed from scratch, how many templates are needed, what content must be migrated and which systems must connect. Both carry the same ownership terms and 60 days of support.
How a WordPress build runs
Discovery and scope
A conversation about the business, then a pull of your Search Console, Analytics and PageSpeed data. We agree the sitemap, the templates, the integrations and the migration plan, and you receive a fixed price in writing.
Design
Wireframes for each template, then designed pages for mobile and desktop that you review and we refine until they are right.
Development on a staging site
The theme is coded, content migrated or written, plugins configured and every template measured through the PageSpeed Insights API. You test the site yourself before anyone else sees it.
Launch and handover
Redirects, SSL, sitemap submission and DNS are handled at a quiet time for your business, with training done before the switch.
The first 60 days and beyond
Adjustments are included for 60 days while the field data settles, then a maintenance plan from $495 a month keeps WordPress, the theme and the plugins current.
