SEO for Tradies: Tradie SEO That Gets the Phone Ringing in the Suburbs You Actually Service
SEO for tradies is the work of getting a trade business into Google’s map pack and organic results when someone in your service area searches for an electrician, a plumber, a fencer, a concreter or a roofer. Perth Digital Edge provides tradie SEO for businesses across Perth and regional WA from $2,000 a month with no lock-in contract. Every campaign runs on data we pull straight from Google’s own APIs, because we use data, we do not guess.

What SEO for tradies means in practice
When a homeowner needs a tradie they search for the job and the place: “colorbond fencing Wanneroo”, “roof restoration Rockingham”, “electrician near me”. Google shows a map pack of three businesses, then organic results. The map pack is decided by your Google Business Profile, your reviews and whether your name, address and phone number match across the web. The organic results are decided by whether you have a proper page for each service, whether the site works on a phone, and whether other sites reference yours.
Tradie SEO is the work of winning both for the suburbs you actually drive to. It is not city wide vanity rankings. A fencer in Joondalup does not need to rank in Armadale, and paying to appear there, in ads or in SEO effort, is money spent on jobs you will never quote.

What the Perth search data says about your trade
Trade searches are some of the largest local searches in Perth, and they carry buying intent. Ahrefs (Australia, September 2026) shows “electrician Perth” at around 2,500 searches a month, “plumber Perth” at around 2,200, “roof restoration Perth” at around 800, “fencing Perth” and “garage doors Perth” at around 700 each, “colorbond fencing Perth” at around 500 and “concreter Perth” at around 200. All of them show a map pack. Suburb level searches are smaller but convert better, because the person has already decided where they want the tradie to come from.
The cost of buying those clicks varies a great deal by trade. Ahrefs estimates about A$10.00 a click for “electrician Perth” and “plumber Perth”, A$5.00 for “roof restoration Perth”, A$1.90 for “colorbond fencing Perth”, A$1.70 for “concreter Perth” and A$1.40 for “fencing Perth”. That matters for strategy. For an electrician or plumber, every organic click replaces an expensive paid one, so SEO pays back quickly. For a fencer, clicks are cheap but competition for the map pack is fierce, so the work shifts toward reviews, citations and suburb pages.
We use Google’s data, not guesswork
Most agencies build a tradie campaign from third party estimates and the standard Search Console reports. We connect to Google’s APIs directly through Google Cloud, and for a trade business that changes the plan.
It is Google’s own data, used directly. It replaces “we think fencing is competitive” with “you are already close to winning these eleven suburb searches, so we start there”.
AI answers are taking the how-to questions
The research end of a trade search now goes to an AI answer. Ahrefs (Australia, September 2026) shows an AI overview on “how to unblock a drain” (around 350 searches a month), “switchboard upgrade Perth” and “RCD testing Perth” (around 200 each). The buying searches still go to the map: “best plumber Perth” (around 100) resolves to a map pack and a discussion thread with no AI overview, and so does “best electrician Perth”. Homeowners read the AI answer to understand the job, then pick a tradie from the map pack. A trade business that is only in one of those places is missing half the customer.
The pages AI answers cite are the pages that rank for the job: a plain answer to the question in the first lines, the job described the way a homeowner describes it, entities Google can read (our Natural Language API check confirms this), structured data matching the page, consistent business details across the trade directories and a strong Google review profile. That is the service page we build for every job you do, so it can be quoted as well as ranked.
We apply it to ourselves first. On 11 September 2026 Ahrefs counted 301 citations of perthdigitaledge.com.au across the AI platforms, from 44 pages: 73 in ChatGPT, 52 in Google AI Overviews, 41 in Perplexity, 37 in Google AI Mode, 17 in Gemini and 8 in Copilot. We do not promise a tradie a place inside an AI answer, because nobody can. We build the pages the way those answers cite them, check your AI citations in Ahrefs against your rankings, and run through the numbers with you in a meeting, not a report. Our AI search optimisation page has the detail.

What SEO for tradies costs
We publish our ranges because a tradie should be able to budget before making a call. Nothing is locked in, thirty days notice ends the engagement, and it always begins with a free audit, because quoting without looking at your site and your market is guessing.
For an electrician or plumber paying around A$10 a click, a campaign usually pays for itself once a handful of suburb searches move into the map pack. For lower cost trades the return comes from volume and from reviews that lift both rankings and conversion.
Why Perth Digital Edge
Our office is in Wanneroo, and we know the northern corridor’s new land releases around Alkimos and Eglinton are producing a wave of new builds that need electricians, plumbers and fencers, while older suburbs skew toward repair, restoration and replacement. We build local strategies that reflect how people in each part of Perth search, rather than treating Joondalup the same as Armadale.
There are no lock-in contracts. Monthly engagement, thirty days notice. If the results justify the investment you stay, and if they do not, a contract should not be the reason you do.
The person doing the work is the person you talk to. No account manager relaying messages. And we apply the same methods to our own site that we apply to yours, which is how you found this page.
